In 2008, John saw the constantly increasing gas prices and knew how that would affect his business and all of the country. He realized that this would be a disastrous blow to our economy, and with the help of a friend, took out a full page add in the local Newspaper protesting the unreasonably high fuel prices and began a petition drive to have the Administration and Congress act to make the U.S. more energy independent.
On June 1, 2008, Cooper headed up his first rally on the downtown square protesting the high fuel prices. It didn’t take long for him to realize that he would not be successful with out real change in Washington, D.C., and that if you wanted to get anything done, you would have to send people there who would really help the People. As the economy continued declining with small businesses collapsing, multiple losses of jobs, and the decline in lending, the burden was there, continually, that someone had to get up and go to Washington and begin reversing the extravagant spending by our government. And finally, John felt led that he had to be that person. That’s the reason that his campaign committee and he have announced his candidacy for the United States House Of Representatives, the 4th District of Texas.
